Trauma Recognition, Intervention, and Empathy (2.0 CEU)

Many employees may be struggling with the demands of their job to the point that their health and wellness is negatively impacted. This may have detrimental effects on the workplace. Knowing the signs and symptoms of trauma, burnout, and stress can help you to help your people. Early recognition is crucial to retention of employees and plays a role in recruitment as well. Fostering a supportive work environment through empathy, understanding, and utilization of existing resources are some of the ways to help your employees cope with stressors on and off the job.

PRESENTATION OBJECTIVES:

At the end of this 2-hour training course, attendees will be able to:

1. Define the term trauma and resilience.

2. Understand generational and historical trauma.

3. Recognize the prevalence, impact, and key features of cumulative stress.

4. Examine personal and professional stress factors.

5. Recognize and discuss the impact of burnout, vicarious trauma, and secondary trauma.

6. Discuss how employers can provide support, empathy, and understanding.

7. Emphasize stress reduction and health and wellness through tips, techniques, and tools.

8. Implement three things you can do right now to lower stress.

PRESENTER:

Nicholas Greco IV, MS., B.C.E.T.S., C.A.T.S.M., F.A.A.E.T.S.,

Nicholas Greco is President and Founder of C3 Education and Research, Inc., a public safety training and consulting firm. Nick has over 29 years of experience training civilians and first responders. He has directed, managed, and presented over 950 training programs globally across various topics including depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, verbal de-escalation techniques, post-traumatic stress disorder, burnout, and vicarious traumatization. He has authored over 325 book reviews and authored or co-authored numerous articles and text supplements in psychiatry and psychology. He received his undergraduate training in psychology from Benedictine University, his certificate of clinical training in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder from the National Center for PTSD Clinical Laboratory and Education Division, his Master’s degree in Psychology from DePaul University, his Certification in Acute Traumatic Stress Management from the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, and is a Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress – Diplomate and Fellow, American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress. He is an approved CIT instructor with the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB), a CIT instructor for the Chicago Police Department, Basic and Advanced CIT Coordinator and CIP Coordinator for NAMI – Kenosha and Walworth Counties, a CIT Advisory Board Member for NAMI Wisconsin, a CIT for Dispatch instructor for CIT International, a Narcan instructor, a QPR Instructor, a Subject Matter Expert for Lexipol/Police One, and an Instructor for Calibre Press. He is a member of the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA), an Associate Member Service Provider of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), a member of the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association, both a member of and certified CIT Coordinator with CIT International, and a Board Member of NIEAPA. In 2024, he co-created and instructed the CIT train-the-trainer curriculum for the Ukrainian National Police in Kyiv.

Instructions

You will make selections within the registration form detailing which items you wish to purchase. All registrants will need to provide the following at the time of registration:

Name, email address, and phone number of the primary contact with whom you wish NIEAPA to communicate regarding the sponsorship
The name of the organization, group, or individual in whose name the sponsorship is being purchased
A sponsor logo image file; .jpg or .png format preferred
Any social media handles used by the sponsor (e.g., Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.)
A short piece of "boilerplate" copy describing your organization for promotional usage; no more than 150 words, please
